Flipping the phase on the distorted track = life/bottom end saver! Thank you 🙂

Carlos Kay says:

Hi Joe. Thank you for the amazing work you do every day. I have a question and I'm sorry if this has been asked before.
Whenever I'm working on a song, I record vocals that sound really clean. I further process them with noise removal, limiting and EQ. However, when I listen to them on a sound system, they distort when I turn the volume up. At this same volume, I listened to vocals from commercial releases and these do not start to distort at that volume. What am I doing wrong? What do the pros do to increase the threshold that vocals begin to distort. On some songs, the vocal doesn't distort even at maximum volume. I appreciate your help 🙂

Edward Halterman says:

Nice work, Joe as always. Thank you.

Marcus Killian says:

Soundin' like a awesome rock mix, Joe. Keep it goin'!

I EQ the DI and gritty bass tracks separately. I’ll bring out the low end in the DI and some texture from the distorted bass. Then I’ll compress together and maybe a limiter on the Bass buss and add console, tape and saturation to add to the overall vibe. Why didn't you bring in the rest of the mix occasionally as you were making all of these EQ moves on the guitars? So many mixers stress to not make your EQ moves in solo. Obviously there are moments when you need to make your moves in isolation, but not the whole time?

Carey Sowder says:

Joe, is there a reason U don't use the faders on ur mixer in DAW mode???

Chris Steven says:

Try saturation knob from softtube its free

Andrea Munari says:

Great job Joe!!!!!!

Jay Janes says:

Hey Joe, I'm not sure if you got my email, but I still can't download the tracks.

Nevermind, I tried another browser and it worked (probably as firefox and chrome were auto-filling in my email).

Casper Bjerkehagen says:

Lol, when i started to mix it always sounded better when i disengaged all the plugins!

Phil Monro says:

A whole hour of Joe. Let me grab my popcorn!
